Arsenal starts the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League by welcoming Real Madrid to the Emirates tonight. The Gunners are facing the Spanish champions for the third time in history, with each party fighting for a place in the last four.
The side of Mikel Arteta was an impression in the round of 16, with PSV Eindhoven 7-1 being demolished over two legs. Real Madrid was not so convincing in their second stage and was forced to secure a quarter -final place in a penalty shootout against local Rivals Atlético Madrid.
Real ran more than 90 minutes with 1-0 at the back of the night after Atlético's Conor Gallagher found the net in less than 30 seconds, but eventually won 4-2 on penalties. The competition will remain this season with Liverpool this season with 11 points clearly at the top of the Premier League.

A victory after two legs will set up a semi-final against Aston Villa or Paris Saint-Germain, with those parties who meet on Wednesday. But Arsenal will have a home advantage tonight, and Bukayo Saka – who has just returned from an injury – says that really 'need to be ready',
Saka spoke with Sky Sports on Monday: “We have not lost a home game in the Champions League for the past two years. I am sure they know that. They have to be ready because we are pretty good at the Emirates.”
