Barcelona was not at their best against Alaves, but they still found a way to win a narrow 1-0 win at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company. It was still a deserved victory in front of Hansi Flick, especially since it would have been a travesty if Lamine Yamal would ultimately not be in the winning team.
The 17-year-old sensation was exactly against Alaves. He produced a striking version and in the opening phase he set the tone with a dribble that Lionel Messi would have been proud of.
After he picked up the ball in his own half, Lamine Yamal managed to get away from five or six Alaves players before he played the ball wide to Raphinha, whose shot Jesus Owono did not put trouble in the goal of the visitors .
It is not surprising that the winning goal, scored by Robert Lewandowski, also came from Lamine Yamal. It was his shot from Pedri's Cross that found his way to the Polish striker, who instinctively changed the ball into the Alaves -network.
There is no doubt that Barcelona can count itself good luck to Happy Lamine Yamal as their player. He remains a vitally important gear in the machine of Hansi Flick, and if the Catalans have to honor the Spanish Super Cup they picked up in January, he must keep himself fit and continue to play at the level he has the last 12 months demonstrated.
Barcelona is back in action in midweek while they take on Valencia in the quarterfinals of the 2024-25 Copa del Rey. Lamine Yamal will be in that one starter, and even when the Blaugrana will be back in La Liga next weekend when they make the trip to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan to tackle Sevilla.
