Valentin Rongier (30) collected his Olympique de Marseille teammates after they had fallen against a 3-0 defeat on Saturday evening as Monaco.
Speaking on the microphone of Téléfoot, the former captain of Marseille revealed his frustration with the result: “Of course disappointed, clearly angry, because it was again a chance to defeat a direct opponent [for Champions League qualification] Today.”
Marseille sends the loss back to the third after they have briefly returned to second place with last weekend's victory over Toulouse FC. However, Rongier did not want the club's focus on securing the automatic qualification on the Champions League walking. “We still have our destination in our hands,” the midfielder said.
Marseille has five more games in the season. The club will be hopeful that they can find a way to reverse a series of shape so that the team has lost five of their last seven games.
There is a two -point buffer between Marseille and Lille OSC and RC Strasbourg Alsace respectively in the fourth and fifth; That buffer can be reduced to a single point if Rivals Olympique Lyonnais beat AJ Auxerre tonight.
