Ajax fought its way to a 2-0 victory on a Philosophy of the PhD, Telstar when striker Wout Weeghorst led the way with two goals.
With Brian Brobbey and Josip Sutalo injured, Wout Weghorst and the 17-year-old Aaron Bouwman were handed over and in the back line.
Raul Moro made his official debut for Ajax on the left wing, while Oscar Gloukh started on the couch. Defender Ko Itakura, who arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this week, was not eligible as he is waiting for his work permit.
Telstar, who has played their first Eredivisie match since 1978, chose to start with five defenders and a front three, including Milan Zonneveld and Patrick Brouwer, who came from Amateur Side Quicks in the summer.
Early danger
After Wout Weghorst Nime had missed a weighed cross of Raul Moro, the home team was not lucky to fall early when Milan Zonneveld wasted a huge opportunity after an error by Aaron Bouwman.
After your boss became the hero with a life -saving block, the next corner of Telstar almost saw again when Patrick Brouwer saw one attempt being blocked and the other hit the post via Wout Weghorst.
An eventful first half was opened by Weghorst, who received a deep ball from Steven Berghuis and escaped from the back of Guus Offerhaus to go one-on-one with Ronald Koeman Jr. And the chance for the 1-0 neatly completed.
Ajax came horribly close to the 2-0 after the goal of Weghorst, but after Steven Berghuis could not score with a header, Bertrand Traore wasted a first huge opportunity for Ajax, because he could not decide whether he wanted to shoot or put it down to Raul Moro, and instead Koeman saw interfereing.
Moro got minutes later in an identical situation, but the Spaniard could not convert it after his pass to Traore was intercepted by Tyrese Noslin for the goal.
When Telstar also found some room in the dying phases of the first half, Soufiane Hetli got a last chance, but saw his efforts go wide.
Telstar remains active
Liverpool Lianee Viteszlav Jaros proved his value early in the second half when the Czech header parried a powerful header of Zonneveld. Jaros did the same fifteen minutes later, when Zonneveld tested the stop with a low shot, but could not surprise him enough.
Telstar hit without energy, had to resort to defending and saw almost replacement Mika godens score the second Ajax goal, but the Belgian winger found Koeman on the way. Kenneth Taylor's effort in the 72nd minute met the same fate as Koeman saved the midfielder's attempt with his head.
Ajax's long waiting time for the second goal came to an end in the 83rd minute when Steven Berghuis and Wout Weghorst connected again, this time during a corner, giving Ajax a 2-0 lead.
Without further chances for both parties, Ajax staggered in the 2-0 victory while making their way to victory in their season opener. The Amsterdam giants will visit Go to Go to Go Avited Eagles in Deventer next week, when the kick-off is planned for 12.15 on Sunday 17 August.
Telstar continues their first Eredivisie season in almost 50 years with a home game against PEC Zwolle on Friday, August 15.
