‘Went to Dagestan’… Payton Talbott shocks fans at UFC 317 with 5-month grappling transformation after first loss

Payton Talbott made a statement on UFC 317 to answer claims “Fraud Check”.

After an exciting provisional part with three first round finishes, the main map of the UFC 317-PAY-per-View on Saturday started with the return of Talbott.

The highly recommended Bantam weight was in action for the first time since the first loss of his professional career suffering. Talbott was beaten at UFC 311 by Raoni Barcelos in a shock decision last January, causing some to cry in the community 'Fraud control'.

With that, the pressure on the 26-year-old when he celebrated a fellow prospect in the Felipe Lima of Brazil and he went up and outside to prove his doubters incorrectly.

Payton Talbott stunt fans on UFC 317 by disconnecting Felipe Lima

Given the gripping strength of Lima, many predicted Talbott to fall on the same kind of defeat on UFC 317 that he suffered in Los Angeles five months ago.

But the inhabitant of Las Vegas showed an improvement that Joe Rogan “huge” burned during the ground and CLINCH exchanges, because he reversed the position a number of times.

And after ending the fight at the top while he had rained heavy ground and pounds, Talbott let his hand rise after earning a trio of 29-28 score cards.

It is sufficient to say that fans were impressed by Talbott's five -month struggling transformation. And many reactions to social media had the same word: Dagestan.

“Payton Talbott went to Dagestan for a few months, it seems.”

“Very impressive performance from Talbott.”

“Did Talbott go to Dagestan?”

“They gave Talbott a test against a really good grappler and he got the test.”

“Talbott went to Dagestan and forgot for 2-3 years.”

“Talbott did in 5 months what (Sean) O'Malley could not do in 5 years.”

Payton Talbott welcomed tough UFC 317 assignment after the first defeat

Some were surprised to see that two promising prospects matched each other on UFC 317, especially on the back of Talbott's opening career.

However, the 26-year-old himself welcomed the assignment.

“I don't think they really wanted to match us,” Talbott said on UFC 317 Media Day.

“If I had control over when I fight, where it is, who it is, and everything could be super sure, that would be a perfect world, but I am happy to fight this guy. This is a difficult fight for me, and that is what I am here to do.

“I mean, this is fighting. This is not a 'build-the-star' company,” Talbott added. “So, I was not surprised at all (because of the matchup). If we both do our work well, we might meet each other again in a year or two.”

Talbott is now 10-1 in professional MMA and has conversations again about his incredibly beautiful future in the UFC.
