Luke Shaw says that Manchester United is “on rock bottom now” after a defeat against Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday.
United was unbeaten in the European competition on the way to the showpiece, but the Scrappy goal of Brennan Johnson, which was almost credited as Shaw's own goal, shortly before the break, decided a 1-0 win for Spurs.
The Red Devils are currently 16th in the Premier League and will not play in Europe next season, because they did not qualify for the Champions League to win the Europa League.
In fact, this was the 20th defeat of United in all competitions this season, their most in a campaign since 22 in 1973-74 lost when they were banned from the top.
They have not succeeded in winning four of their last five major European finals, after winning their first four between 1968 and 2008.
The highest association can end in the Premier League is 14th, but no matter how their last day match against Aston Villa goes on Sunday, Shaw believes that they have already reached their lowest point.
“We are all stripped, it's not how we saw the outcome honestly,” Shaw said. “But it's not alone [this result]This entire season it has not been good enough.
“I think we all have to interrogate if we are good enough to be here.
“For a team like Manchester [United]For the season we have had, it is not acceptable. We know that, we all know that, I know. It is not where Manchester should be.
“We have to look at the positives, and the only positive thing is that we can only go from here. We are now at the bottom. We have to find a way to drive ourselves back and go back to where this club deserves to be.”
Shaw also threw his support behind Ruben Amorim, who, according to him, is the right head coach to turn things around.
“I can now say 100% that he is the right man,” Shaw added. “The results have not been good at all.
“I have been here for a long time and have experienced several managers. Ruben, for me, I talk on my behalf and I can talk on behalf of all players. He is 100% the right manager to bring us back to where this club should be.
“It will be a very difficult process, we as players, we have abandoned many people, including Ruben. I will say it again, we have not been good enough throughout the season.
“A lot has to change, it is clear to see. That is why I say that Ruben is 100% the right person. He knows what should be done at this club. I believe he will do everything to make that change and bring Manchester back to the top.”

Diogo Dalot also repeated Shaw's beliefs about their scorching season, but promised to leave with the rest of the players in an attempt to improve it.
“It is clear that the season was a disaster. We have to look at ourselves now and how we can improve. The last thing we need now is to create separation with us and the fans,” he said.
“We have to prove to them that we deserve to be here. They deserve more. They just have to stay with us and believe in us. I think they will stay with us.
“There are many things that we have to change, whether it is behavior every day, standards must be a lot higher.
“We look at ourselves while we are gone to analyze everything. I am sure that the club will also analyze things and make the changes we need to change.
“As players we have Ned to look at ourselves and see what we can do better every day. The expectations are always high, but this season is far away from what this club deserves. We take that responsibility because we are on the field.”
