Ian Wright has serious fears about the future of three arsenal stars – who, according to him, could end their contracts with the club.
The slim hope of the North Londoners to win their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season went to smoke last weekend when they fell 11 points behind Table toppers Liverpool thanks to a 1-0 defeat against West Ham.
The end of the title of the Gunners -Hoop only comes a few weeks after manager Mikel Arteta had not received a new striker to illuminate his attacking misery.
The decision brought a lot of the Emirates Faithful, including Wright, to question the ambitions of the club in the transfer market.
And Wright believes that a constant lack of ambition stars Gabalhaes, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba can cause to keep the signing of new deals.
During the last episode of Wrighty's House Podcast, he said: “When you talk about innovations with certain players, Saka, Gabriel [Magalhaes]Saliba, the way they move now, I bet those innovations will all be slow.
“We may have a situation such as Liverpool with Trent, Salah and Virgil.
“If I am one of these players, and their teams are going to say: 'Let's wait, we will have two more years left, so let's wait and see who they get in the summer.
“I know the manager has signed again, but let's wait.”
“If they don't get the kind of players that take us to the next step, look at Saliba. Real Madrid would bring him tomorrow.
“Why not wait and see what is going on in the summer to see the kind of players and caliber of players we sign. This is where people are needed to be careful.”
Wright, the former leading goal scorer of the Gunners, believes that his fears are also shared by Arteta.
He continued: “I am sure that Mikel told them that he probably has the same kind of ambition.
“'If you are not going to give me the kind of players I need, I can't hold the players I have here who are our best players, who now end their contracts.
“We are not even in that conversation about these players.
“This summer and who is coming, F *** ING Vitaal is important for these players.
“There is now a lot going on that has to be unpacked by these people upstairs and they better do well. They better do well.”
Magalhaes, Saka and Saliba's respective contracts of several millions of pounds at the Emirates all expire in the summer of 2027.
Arsenal will be back in action on Wednesday evening and travel to the city area to take on Nottingham Forest.
