‘We’re not in church’, says Milan’s Conceicao after Calabria confrontation

Sergio Conukicao blamed his heated collision with AC Milan Captain Davide Calabria about adrenaline and passion when the Rossoneri left it to beat Parma 3-2 on Sunday.

Christian Pulisic's punishment has canceled the opener of Matteo Cancellieri in the first half, only for Parma to resume the leadership in the 80th minute via Enrico Delprato.

But goals in the second half of the stopping time of Tijjani Reijnders and Samuel Chukwueze moved Milan to sixth in the Serie A-classification after 21 games of their season.

In fact, Milan won a match for the first time in the Serie A by coming back from behind and scored two goals from the 90th minute in the San Siro.

In the middle of their parties for the winner of Chukwueze, however, Conukria and Calabria had to be separated by teammates and employees on the touchline.

Calabria was replaced by Luka Jovic in the 77th minute in an attacking change for the hosts, who ultimately proved crucial in determining the match.

Concuyo was clearly upset about something in the exchange and tried to approach his captain to solve the problem, but was stopped before the situation escalated.

“I live the competitions and in terms of how I live them and how I think about it, there is a lot of passion and desire to win,” said Conceicao.

“In the end there was a little extra adrenaline. I was talking about a game situation with Davide and in my opinion one too many words were spoken.

“The players know that they are all important to me, such as a family. If I am in a restaurant and my son does something that I don't like, I will tell him, there is no hypocrisy.

“It wasn't fun to see, but in football it's okay. We're not in church.”

It has been a difficult season for 28-year-old Calabria, with only four games in the Serie A this period after missing five games earlier in the campaign due to injury.

He has also lost the Captainincy to goalkeeper Mike Maignan, with Emerson Royal often preferred in the right -wing position. Milan also welcomed the Manchester City defender Kyle Walker for the rest of the season earlier this week and gave Calabria even more competition.

Against Parma, however, Calabria made more clearings (eight) than one of his teammates, while only Strahinja Pavlovic (11) won more duels than Italian (five).

“It is not a positive year like others,” Calabria told Omroep Dazn.

“There are situations that are not easy, even private and personal that nobody is aware. I don't even want to talk too much about it.

“I want to end this season in the best possible way for the well -being of the team, which I give the most, even more than myself.

“To be honest, I am thinking of staying focused on that, grew up with this shirt. Then there are situations like today that can happen, but they are part of the journey.”
