‘We’re used to it’ – Man City calm ahead of Real Madrid clash

Savinho says that Manchester City feels confident prior to their Champions League collision against Real Madrid, which they will approach without fear.

City ran the risk of being beaten from the Champions League on the way to the last competition day of the competition phase, but a comeback victory at Club Brugge sealed their place in the play-offs.

They were pulled against the defending champion, who finished 11th in the table, with it the fifth time that the teams have been pulled together in the last five years.

It is only the fourth game in the history of the European Cup/Champions League that is played in four consecutive seasons, while it is their 13th meeting in general in Europe's Premier competition, with City who wins four (D5 L3).

Pep Guardiola's side plays at home in the first stage and are the small favorites to win that draw, given a chance of 42.7% by the OPTA supercomputer, with the opportunities of Madrid to take advantage of the Santiago Bernabeu die at 33 % sit.

Despite a tumultuous season, Savinho says that there is a calm faith in the City team, given their history of playing in big competitions.

“These are the games where I came to Manchester City to play in, and every big player wants to play in, so not only me, but many experienced players in the dressing room,” he said ESPN.

“These are the games for the big players, the big managers. These are great games to watch, great games to play in and hopefully Manchester City can come on these two legs with two wins.

“It was a quiet atmosphere [when the draw was made]. We are used to it; We have played them a lot in recent seasons. It is such a beautiful tie.

“We stayed calm, of course we had no choice. We couldn't choose who our opponents would be, but we just wait to get to the field.”

Although Madrid has only lost three of their 12 games against them in the competition, City more often eliminated from the knockout phase of the Champions League than by another opponent (three times).

Savinho played with Girona in Spain, on loan from Troyes, Savinho says that he knows what to expect from Los Blancos.

“It's a team that I know a lot,” he said. “They have great players.

“Real Madrid is one of the best teams in the world, so we hope to give a great show. It will be a great band to see, a great band to play in. Hopefully Happiness is on our side and Manchester City City can progress .

“It has been a difficult season, especially in comparison with the recent ones we have had. This is a team that has won four prominent competitions in a row, so it is of course very different.

“The supporters who come here, they are used to seeing us winning the Treble, win four in a row and this is something else for them.

“But in football it is not all sunshine and flowers. We have to concentrate and we really have to concentrate on how we can improve.”
