Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown believes the club is glamorous enough to lure the likes of Cole Palmer to Old Trafford.
United sit a shocking 13th in the Premier League after 20 games, seven points clear of the relegation places, with head coach Ruben Amorim recently highlighting the risks of a relegation battle.
But Brown says the club remains attractive enough to land some top names and he is tipping them to make a bizarre move for Palmer.
The Chelsea star grew up a United fan but is aiming for a place in next season's Champions League as the leading man at Stamford Bridge.
United are also unable to spend large amounts of money without high-profile sales due to concerns about financial fair play.
But Brown told The Sports Daily: “Luckily for Manchester United they still have the star power to lure top players like Cole Palmer to the club.
“Chelsea have done so well to develop Palmer after taking a small risk in signing him and look how good a player he is at such a young age.
“I would like to see him at United, but he has already cost a lot of money. He is a player that the best teams in the world will be looking at in case there is an opportunity to sign him.
“If United had any chance at all they would take your hand off. They should always look out for the best young players in the world.”
“If he wanted to do that, he would be really good at movement and things like that. He was one of the best at doing that,” Brown said. “Can he help Rasmus Hojlund at United? I think all young strikers would like to listen to Wayne and his knowledge.
“When I was a young player I remember getting a few tips from Laurent Blanc and little things like that can really help. If Wayne was there to give some advice I'm sure everyone would be willing to listen.”
