West Ham 1-1 Brighton: Kudus cancels out Mats Wieffer strike with honours even

West Ham and Brighton & Hove Albion drew 1-1 at the London Stadium, in a result that did not suit either side.

While West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui will be pleased that his team fought back to earn a point thanks to Mohammed Kudus' well-taken goal just before the hour mark.

It means the Hammers are now unbeaten in three consecutive league games for the first time this season. He may also feel this was a missed opportunity to claim all three points against lackluster Brighton and move further up the table.

The visitors, meanwhile, worked hard to take the lead when Mats Wieffer fired home a gaping goal after Lukasz Fabianski dropped a cross at his feet under pressure from Lewis Dunk, with the goal ultimately given after a review by the video assistant referee for offside.

But they could only hold the lead for seven minutes and have now gone five games in the Premier League without a win, with only Southampton currently on a longer run, which has seen them drop from second to ninth.

Fabian Hurzeler saw his side come desperately close to a winner as the visitors woke up late, only for Kaoru Mitoma's attempt to hit the post when the striker looked certain to score, although they were perhaps lucky that Pervis Estupinan was not sent off for a goal. a strong tackle on Max Kilman.

The point does keep Lopetegui's team in 14th place in what has been a testing few days for the Hammers boss following the recent death of his father.
