West Ham defender is ‘targeted by Marseille’ as alternative to Liverpool star

Marseille is said to be interested in signing West Ham United, has left Emerson before the end of the transfer window.

The French giants need a left -sided full back this summer after losing the talented Quentin Merlin to Rennes in a £ 13 million deal.

And they have apparently identified the experienced Brazilian, now 31, as one of their most important goals, according to Foot Mercato.

Every possible move to Marseille would come back to Ligue 1 four years after he had been sent to Lyon on loan by his former club Chelsea.

After signing in 2018 for the blues in a £ 18 million deal from Roma, the attacking entire back did not succeed in moving to the east in Marcos Alonso in the starting eleven during his time in West London in 2022 for a four-year-old deal.

He played with West Ham with much more regularity and collected 113 performances in all games during his three seasons with the club.

Emerson's potential move to Marseille, a side that has a former Premier League stars Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is far from certainty, but with the Ligue 1-outfit also looks at other goals.

One is considered Costas Tsimikas in Liverpool, which looks like this summer to leave the Reds.

The 29-year-old has to appear in front of the side of Arne Slot this season after the signing of Milos Kerkez, who places Tsimikas as the third choice of the club.

Marseille sees Tsimikas as a stylistic fit for the three of Roberto de Zerbi on the rear system, which would probably see the Greek international game as a wing.

However, he also attracts interest from a number of other clubs, including English outfits Nottingham Forest and Leeds.

However, Marseille is thought that it should discharge a number of players before they spend more money in this window.

England International Jonothan Rowe, 22, formerly Van Norwich, and the French international Adrien Rabiot are considered two of the players who are at risk before the Deadline of 1 September.

Sunderland and Bologna are supposed to be interested in Rowe, while Juventus – the old club of Rabiot – could return for the midfielder.

The Frenchman was previously associated with a move to Manchester United, especially when his contract went two years ago.

He opened the deal in an interview with athletics earlier this year and said: 'I felt a little restraint about whether United could continue and achieve great things. Because they are currently in a bit of a hole. '

Rowe helped the England under the age of 21 at the European Championship Crown this summer.

The players were told that the club's decision to transfer them on Monday and it followed on their ugly bust during the 1-0 loss of Marseille against Rennes.

According to RMC Sport, Rowe was accused not to make enough effort by Rabiot.

He also became the target of a number of other players in the dressing room and it was said that he is being thrown in both directions.

Allegedly the mood became toxic because several key names expressed their frustrations and manager Roberto de Zerbi gave a rough speech.

The ex-Brighton boss reportedly allowed the players to argue with each other before they intervene: 'The others have defeated us on the field and we come in here and fight each other.

'Do you know what that means? That we have small balls. We must have big in Marseille. '
