West Ham sign Danish international keeper from Leicester on a five-year contract

West Ham United has confirmed the signing of the Danish international goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from Leicester City.

The 25-year-old Hermansen joins the hammers with a five-year contract with an option of one year.

“I am happy to become a member of West Ham United,” said Hermansen, who will wear the number 1 shirt. “I had the feeling that West Ham would fit well with me and my playing style for a long time. It feels of course to be here – it was a simple decision.

“I have heard a lot of great things about the club. I played west Ham twice last season and playing in London Stadium was a great experience. It is a great stadium with loud, passionate fans. It is what you dream of as a football player, and I can't wait to play for 62,500 fans as a western ham player.”

“The fans can expect that I am brave and take good energy to help the team in the best way. This is a great step in my career. I have huge ambitions and I can't wait to start.”

Head Coach Graham Potter is happy to have defeated the competition from different leading clubs to secure Hermansen's services, and looks forward to adding him to his team.

“We are pleased to welcome Mads to West Ham United,” said Potter. “Mads has proven his quality in Leicester City with two impressive campaigns on a personal level in recent years, and the exciting thing is that we feel that his best years are still in front of him.”

“His shot-stop power and distribution are strengths for his game, and he has a fantastic attitude with a clear desire to keep improving, something we attach to a high value to our players.

“We currently have real strength within the goalkeeper department, and I don't doubt that Mads will be a fantastic addition to the group that is making progress.”
