Stay less than 500 days before the largest sporting event in the world starts in Mexico City.
We are just over a year away from the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026, which is partly organized by Canada, Mexico and the United States and the first will be with 48 participating countries.
As it looks now, most confederations have started or are ready to start the qualifying process with reigning champions Argentina who wants to become the third nation ever to defend their title.
As the countdown to the competition continues, FIFA parallel increases the hype around the tournament and has launched a new music -based initiative: the host City Global ID project.
The move sees some of the most talented and influential producers/musicians from the sixteen host cities in Canada, Mexico and the US have created customized sonic id's or audio fires that make contact with the tournament.
Each city has selected a producer to remix the official FIFA World Cup 26 theme and add a local taste that shows the local subtleties of their own city.
From 1 March every city will see its Sonic ID released by FIFA through popular streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
