What is the retro adidas kit worn by Argentina against Peru?

La Albiceleste will wear the jersey during their CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier, marking 50 years since their first adidas partnership.

The past few years have been a historic period for the Argentina national team. It won three consecutive major tournaments and gave Lionel Messi the international silverware he always wanted.

The first of Argentina's three World Cup victories came in 1978, with the iconic adidas trefoil logo. The sportswear giants first teamed up with Argentina in 1974, meaning this year marks the 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Argentina will wear a striking retro-inspired kit for Tuesday's match against Peru.

The shirt has an understated design with a white V-neck collar and the famous blue and white stripes synonymous with the national team. The throwback look is completed with “an iconic Trefoil logo and '70s-inspired team crest that stands out in gold colors.”

Although adidas stuck to a minimalist idea with the kit, there are a number of subtle accents that give a nod to Argentina's rich sporting history. The bottom of the shirt features the laurel wreath and sun symbol of the Argentine national flag, next to the words 'En el alma y en la piel', or 'In the soul and on the skin'.

Finally, the inner logo also shows off the three stars representing the country's three World Cup victories.
