What life could be like for Kyle Walker and Annie Kilner in Italy if Man City star moves to Milan

Milan is known as the city of fashion, but this month it could become the city of football's renaissance for one of England's most recognizable stars.

Kyle Walker told Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola last week that he wanted to 'explore the possibilities of playing abroad'.

The revelation came after Walker, who has been a star in the Premier League for the past decade and has been a regular in England squads, endured a difficult season.

Several clubs across Europe and beyond have subsequently been linked with moves for Walker, but AC Milan have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature.

It is clear that Walker is keen to remain in Europe for his family and to save his marriage to Annie Kilner, making Milan a suitable location.

So, in light of Walker considering a move to the Italian city, Mail Sport has looked at what life could be like for the England international and Kilner, and where they could spend their time in the coming months.

Hotels

For Walker, a move to Milan would mean a big change in their lives.

Born in Sheffield, Walker has lived in Manchester since joining City from Tottenham in 2017.

For starters, he and Kilner would likely set up shop in a hotel and there are several popular options available for footballers in Milan.

The Royal Suite at the Principe di Savoia hotel has proven to be a meeting point for celebrities.

The suite features marble floors, Venetian mirrors in the ornate sitting room and views over the spectacular Piazza della Republica.

The price of the suite isn't available online, although considering the Imperial Executive Suite at the hotel costs €7,400 (£6,239) per night, it's fair to say this isn't a cheap stay.

The hotel's website describes this 'unique' option as: 'A vintage masterpiece for a very modern era, complete with stunning views and a jacuzzi.'

However, it's not as eye-watering in price as the Bulgari Hotel, where the most expensive suite costs a whopping €20,000 per night.

Describing itself as a 'tastefully renovated 18th-century Milanese palazzo', the venue is based on a private street in the 'commercial and cultural heart of the city', while the hotel also features a 4,000 square meter private garden.

Other available options include the luxurious five-star Armani Hotel in central Milan, where a standard room can cost more than €2,800 per night.

The venue describes itself as a 'world of refined beauty' and features spa, wellness and fitness facilities, in addition to a 'gourmet' dining experience.

Elsewhere, the Four Seasons hotel has proven to be a favorite location for the super-rich, an equally glamorous spot close to Milan's iconic Duomo.

Restaurants

Milan is known for its huge range of luxury restaurants, where players from both Inter and Milan can live a luxurious life in the city.

One place Walker and Kilner often visit is La Briciola restaurant in the center of Milan.

The venue, which serves Mediterranean cuisine, has proven to be a favorite spot for Milan and Inter stars.

It is a family business that has opened a second restaurant in the form of La Briciola Mare, its Milanese sister organization that focuses on fish specialties.

In a review on Flawless, La Briciola is described as 'the main place to be in Milan'.

Another place where footballers can dine is Ristorante Novecento, a restaurant that serves classic Italian dishes.

Several punters have been shocked by the presence of stars from both Milan and Inter during their attendance, with the venue known for its secluded location and private areas.

Elsewhere, Beef Bar Milano, an exclusive restaurant in the heart of the city offering 'a unique dining experience', and the Zelo Bar at the Four Seasons hotel are also popular celebrity haunts.

Shopping

Given its status as a fashion capital, it's not surprising that Walker has several stores to visit when he wants to make the move to Italy.

In fact, a January promotion would showcase it for the iconic Milan Fashion Week, which takes place from February 25 to March 3.

The event always attracts celebrities from all over the world, including footballers, including Trent Alexander-Arnold who featured at the event last year.

Milan is known for its variety of luxury shops, including Via Montenapoleone, a chic street dubbed the 'Golden Mile' of Milan shopping.

Exclusive and premium brands such as Versace, Armani, Valentino, Gucci, Prada, Rolex and Dior are based there, while Via della Spiga offers a number of designer outlets for shoppers.

Meanwhile, Prata & Mastrale, a bespoke tailor in the city, is known for producing the finest shirts and morning suits tailor-made for the wealthy.

Bars and nightclubs

In addition to its status as a fashion city, Milan is known for its nightlife and location as a popular place for celebrities to party.

Several locations such as Radetzky Cafe, Dry Milano and Terrazza Aperol offer beautiful views of Milan.

Terrazza Aperol organizes exclusive parties, something ideal for footballers, while offering stunning views in the shadow of Milan Cathedral.

The location profiles itself as 'the salon of new gastronomic, musical and lifestyle trends'.

Meanwhile, Radetzky is described as 'an institution for nightlife enthusiasts', while it can also be rented out for private meetings.

Several stars have enjoyed Milan's nightlife over the years and there are several other options that appeal to footballers looking to let off some steam.

Housed in an old church, Il Gattopardo is known as the most exclusive club in Milan, meaning it is perhaps no surprise that footballers regularly visit the venue.

Elsewhere, 11Clubroom and Hollywood Rythmoteque are also popular venues and both are also recognized for their exclusivity.

Schools

It remains to be seen for Walker whether he will be joined by his wife Kilner and their four children.

Mail Online reported last week that Kilner is reportedly considering taking back their impending £27million divorce and has moved the star back into the marital home.

The 33-year-old served Walker, 34, with divorce papers in October and kicked him out of the property after discovering he had secretly fathered a second child with his ex Lauryn Goodman, 33.

Sources say Kilner, who was pregnant with their fourth child when Goodman dropped the bombshell, is now having second thoughts about their split and is “quietly working on her relationship with Walker behind the scenes.”

If Walker's family moves with him, it is likely that the British School of Milan would be one of the defender's best options for his children's education.

The coeducational independent school was founded in 1969 and offers education from Nursery to Year 13.

The school is rated as one of the best International Baccalaureate schools in Europe, while it is the only educational institution in Milan to meet all the requirements set by British government inspectors.

Alive

Home to both Inter and Milan, the San Siro is one of the most iconic stadiums in world football.

The venue's location about 30 minutes from the center of Milan only adds to its appeal.

This means that while some stars choose to live in large locations on the outskirts of Milan, many also settle in apartments or penthouses in the heart of the city, given their proximity to the stadium.

Several exclusive neighborhoods have opened where footballers often settle, with exclusive and elegant villas, modern skyscrapers and luxury apartments.

This also applies to the Brera district, where several VIPs and footballers have been based in recent years, including AC legend Paolo Maldini.

Elsewhere, the Portello, Isola and CityLife areas are also popular, with a mix of AC and Inter players living among themselves.

The CityLife district is seen by many as the future of Milan and people like Lautaro Martinez and Mike Maignan are said to be based there.

Meanwhile, football differences can also play a role in where stars live in the city, with one report detailing how a Juventus player wanted to buy a friend's penthouse.

However, because the owner supported AC Milan, he refused to sell the property to the star.

Whatever happens to Walker in the coming weeks, if he moves to Milan he could embark on a glamorous lifestyle that is unlikely to bore him.
