The attempt by Liverpool to sign Alexander Isak is not the first time they have had to deal with Push-Back in the hunt for a Newcastle player, and history can repeat itself this summer
Liverpool will hope to succeed in their yacht to sign Alexander Isak of Newcastle, after he had not signed his £ 100 million teammate earlier. Allegedly the Reds Bruno wanted to lure Guimaraes to Anfield and had rejected a huge offer for him long before he aroused interest in Isak.
The side of Arne Slot has already rejected an opening offer of £ 110 million for Isak this summer. However, the MerseSiders are not completely deterred because Isak continues to insist on a movement, adamant to have played his last game for the Magpies.
Jurgen Klopp was still in charge of Anfield in the summer of 2023 when Liverpool supposedly launched a £ 100 million step for Guimaraes. The midfielder was only 18 months in his term of office at Newcastle, but attracted great interest after helping Eddie How's side fourth in the Premier League.
However, the Spanish newspaper, as reported, was immediately rejected the bid of nine digits, as a result of which Liverpool withdrew and focused their attention elsewhere. Midfielders Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo were brought into Brighton, Bayern Munich and Stuttgart that summer that summer.
But with a little more than a week to go in the transfer window, there is a chance that things can come out differently with regard to Isak and Liverpool. Even if the move does not come out this summer, there is a feeling that Liverpool could come in to sign the attacker in the future after his bonds in the northeast have been broken.
Unlike guimaraes, Liverpool has no other goals in mind and they do not intend to give up the pursuit. The Reds are said to be hopeful to sign Isak, even if a deal does not flourish this summer, even though he is already rinse on Hugo Ekitike, who has made a clear start of his Anfield career with two goals of so many games.
Earlier this week, Isak issued a statement in which he repeated his wish to leave St. James's park. The Swede emphasized the point that “promises were broken” by Newcastle, which showed the agreement of the alleged men's height that he would be allowed this summer.
Newcastle gave a quick answer to that letter with a personal statement and said that they were “disappointed” by the constant attempts of their player to force an exit. The answer also stated that no club officer has ever forged an agreement that the player could leave this summer.
The statement was: “As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into account the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale did not happen this summer.
“We do not foresee that those conditions are met. This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feeling. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed when he is ready to join his teammates.”
Unlike in the case of guimaraes, the Isak -Saga has been played in public for a few weeks. With three years left on the striker contract, Newcastle is no longer inclined to sell such a crucial player, especially with little time left to find an adequate replacement.
That does not mean that a deal is still dead, especially when Isak continues in its campaign to develop a deal. However, it would not be the first time that Newcastle buried their feet to ward off Liverpool's interest in one of their most important men.
