Scoring on your debut in England is Pure Roy van de Rovers, and only a select number of players have succeeded in doing this millennium.

We have looked at those 16 men closer to see how their career turned out after those historical occasions.

Vassell's English debut was remarkable because it also saw that Michael Ricketts and Wayne Bridge made their arches in a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands.

The then Aston Villa stole the show with a man-of-the-match display while he was right with a bicycle kick. His career in England ended two years later in disappointment when he missed the decisive Spot-Kick in the quarter-finals defeat against Portugal on Euro 2004.

Despite the fact that he has not appeared anymore since he ran a serious knee injury in 2011 while playing for Leicester City, Vassell only announced his retirement in 2016.

Recently, a coach at Oldham Athletic, Jeffers managed to overshadow the debut of another former Toffees striker by scoring the only goal of England in a 3-1 defeat against Australia in 2003.

Sven-Goran Eriksson decided to place a different XI in each half, which led to Jeffers and Wayne Rooney who led the line for the three lions after the break.

Jeffers never played for England again. Rooney did a little better.

Ahh, the Shaun Wright-Phillips years. Do you remember them, so full of hope and pleasure and eternal promise that the golden generation is littered with talented young people?

A brilliant solo goal against Ukraine on his first cap helped to add to the excitement, although the former winger in Manchester City and Chelsea never really settled in the side, despite collecting a respectable 36 caps.

He is now 43 and has a son in the books in the Belgian club Beerschot. We are getting old.

Ahh, the Kieran Richardson years. With a tour after the season through the US who saw Knight, Luke Young and Andrew Johnson England Caps earn.

A 2-1 victory over the US was secured thanks to two goals from debutant Richardson, including an excellent free kick.

The left-sided player won only seven caps for England and was last seen by the trial periods with Tony Adams' Granada in 2017, alongside Nigel Reo-Coker and Phil Brown's Southend.

Neither of them came in full -time contracts.

Has there ever been a better debut goal for England? Absolutely not. Has there ever been a better goal for England? Absolutely not.

Just like Jeffers, Nugent can be quite satisfied with his England record with one CAP one goal and retired in 2021.

Another player with a 100% goal record for England, Caulker showed the type of form so that Liverpool signed the defender as a auxiliary attack in a friendly defeat against Sweden in 2012.

Unfortunately for the then defender, Zlatan Ibrahimovic stole the show somewhat with all four goals of Sweden, including * Die * overhead kick.

Caulker's career is a warning story, with the 33-year-old, who is now playing in Turkey for Ankara Keciorengucu. spoken about his problems with gambling, addiction and depression.

Do you remember that Townsend was actually pretty good for England? That seems like a long time ago, but it is worth mentioning that he used his displays for the three lions to feed a beef with Paul Merson.

“If that is the only time that I will have in an English shirt – hopefully not – I couldn't have wished to have been better.”

If you are going to score on your debut in England, against Scotland from all teams, making your first touch to ask for a flurry of stories about how you used to work in a beet factory a fairly good way to go.

The striker then scored two more goals for the Drie Lions, but only retired three years later and has since taken a conspiracy rabbit hole.

Things have continued to go pretty well for the registration of England.

After he had put Wales against Wales in 2020, Calvert-Lewin was mentioned in the European Championship Squad as a backup of Kane.

But injuries and inconsistencies at club level with Everton have slipped away from his position. He has not been played for England since 2021.

If you were to watch opponents for your international debut, San Marino would be at the top of the list.

But that should not detract from the performance of Watkins, especially in view of the fact that he played for Exeter City only four years ago in League Two.

The Aston Villa striker has made 18 performances for his country and scored the winner against the Netherlands in the semi-final of the Euro 2024.
