Where is Roman Abramovich? Ex-Chelsea owner’s secret life in Turkey and Tel Aviv

Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been accused of avoiding millions of tax payments as part of a regulation around his fleet of super yachts.

Abramovich, who was punished by the VK in March 2022, about his connection with the Vladimir Putin regime and forced to sell the Stamford Bridge Club, bought five luxury yachts involved in the tax plan, according to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

Lawyers who acted on behalf of Abramovich said in a statement that he had “always obtained independent experts and legal advice” and “in accordance with it”.

Since the sanctions, the billionaire has divided its time between Istanbul, Tel Aviv and Sochi while the yachts are stationed.

In June 2023, after Istanbul won the Champions League final by Manchester City, Mirror Football investigated the area in which Abramovich had rented a gated complex.

According to the head of the Istanbul Real Estate Brokers Club, the former Chelsea owner $ 50,000 (£ 40,000) began to pay per month for a house owned by the stock market player Ahmet Okumus at the end of 2022. Okumus bought the real estate for an estimated $ 25 million (£ (£ (£ 20m) just over ten years ago.

Since then, however, CNN Turkey has reported that Abramovich has purchased a property in the Vanikoy district. Although the exact location of the house is unclear and who have refused to confirm in the circle of the billionaire that it is now his home

As reported for the first time by the Telegraph, the Turkish Ministry of Environment, the urbanization and climate change “unauthorized construction activities” of a helicopter platform has criticized the building that is located in the protected “Bosphorus Foreview area”. The government ordered the helicopter platform to be demolished in September.

The house was previously owned by Adnan Oktar, an Islamic televangelist and cult leader who was imprisoned in 2022 for leading a criminal gang and the sexual abuse of minors.

Then there are the yachts. His eclispy superyacht remains moored at the marina in Marmaris, on the southwest coast of Turkey. The Solaris yacht was last moved in May 2024 and is moored in the Gocek Port Marina.

Abramovich has also spent some time in Tel Aviv – he and is holding Israeli passport – and Moscow, although suggestions have been made that his relationship with Putin has tense since 2022.

He played a role in failed peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, as he was reportedly the victim of an alleged poisoning in 2023. As always with a man who was protected against the spotlight at the height of his powers, both cases remain in one degree of mystery.

What can be said with certainty, his attempts to have his sanctions been told have failed with the Court of the European Union in Brussels that relieves him out of hand. He also stays in sanction in the United States.
