Where Liverpool’s 10 forwards stand with Wirtz to become club record transfer

Florian Wirtz is still expected to complete his transfer to Liverpool in the coming days, but where is that the attacking players currently in the club?

Not yet, Liverpool fans. But it should be fast.

The switch from Florian Wirtz to Anfield is still expected to be completed, because all parties are hopeful about the deal, and once he has arrived, the discussion will soon change to exactly where he could play in the side.

With flexibility an important element in the Xis van Arne Slot, Wirtz's ability to play both in midfield and attacking roles will be crucial, but the prevailing wisdom is that the German international will take a role in the center of the action, either as a false 9 falling into spaces and creating them in a number 10 role.

So what does that mean for the other attacking players on a Liverpool side that looks like an evolution despite the fact that he just becomes Premier League champions?

Last season, six players fought for the three most advanced positions in Slot's Side, while there are also four young people who have already tasted the first team football with the Reds on the books that would like to see more of it.

So what would the arrival of Wirtz, plus the potential signing of another attacker, mean for them all? And where are they in the pecking order? We have taken a look.

Mohamed Salah

We might as well start with the chief. The decision of Liverpool to pay Salah, the money he wanted in the next two years is an obligation that would have been more difficult for the club to sanction than many realize.

As Salah himself said since he signed his contract, there are Liverpool policy when it comes to older players, but the huge songs placed by the Egyptian in his season of seasons made it almost impossible for the club to let him go.

Salah will still be the support point of the Liverpool attack for next season, at least, with Slot's tactics diagonally to the best out of him again. As the man himself said about his conversations with Slot: “You can see the figures. Now I don't have to defend much. The tactic is very different. I said,” As long as you are defending me, I will offer offensive “, so I am happy that I did. He listened a lot and you can see the numbers.” Liverpool will see them again.

Cody Gakpo

He will not go as far as he said that he was happy to see the back of Jurgen Klopp, but the arrival of Slot has given Gakpo more certainty about his position in the team, and it was striking to see how he never shifted from the left flank under his countryman.

The narrow season has brought news of Bayern München's surprise interest in the former PSV Eindhoven man, but it would be a huge and undesirable, offering that Liverpool sells a player who comes to his prime at the age of 26.

After being a bit reserved in the beginning, Gakpo comes into his own as a character in Liverpool – like Joe Gomez's photo of him with a cigar next to John Henry's wife Linda Pizzuti on the title paradeshows – and he still has to be seen as an important man who is progressing.

Luis Diaz

This is where things become interesting. Diaz has left for his Liverpool contract for two more years, and at the moment the only thing you can say with relative certainty is that he will not sign a new one.

The Reds can choose to extend the residence of the Colombians by a year to give him a well -deserved wage increase, because he is currently not somewhere near the largest Anfield earners, but it is much more likely that his stay was allowed to walk until the end of his contract in 2027.

The 28-year-old has been one of the architects of the title profit and demonstrably did more than anyone else in the opening weeks of the season to show that life would take place without a beating, but Liverpool is not afraid to extract the maximum of a player before they leave them for free, and as long as Diaz continues to perform, that seems to be the most likely outcome at the moment.

Darwin Nunez

He has been a player who has divided Liverpool for a large part of his time, but at the moment you are struggling to find a fan of Reds who thinks Nunez still has to be in the club after this summer.

The last competition match of Uruguayan came against Southampton at the beginning of March, and although his impact that day – he scored and won a penalty – showed what he can do if he is at his game, those performances have been missing for a while.

Slot's denial that there was an agreement, which meant that Liverpool Benfica would have to pay an extra £ 5 million if NUNEZ has started a league match, nobody convinced, and when that is exactly what was over, he is now floating around the starting door. Liverpool will have a prize for him, and they will very much hope it has been met.

Diogo Jota

Perhaps the most intriguing name on the list, there is a bit of waiting and seeing element for Jota's summer, but as his impact was at the club, it is unlikely that Liverpool is bothered by that with two more years over his deal.

This is a man who has just completed his fifth season in Anfield, has 65 Liverpool goals and is a popular member of the team, so there will be no hurry to get him out of the door despite a disappointing season in which he was hindered by a rib injury against Chelsea in October.

He still led crucial winning goals against Crystal Palace and Everton and an important equalizer in Nottingham Forest, and the feeling is that Liverpool will get him good for another gamble under slot machine in the preseason. However, if a good offer arrived …

Federico Chiesa

He would not have wanted his biggest impact in Liverpool so far as an extremely catchy song, but we are where we are with the Italian.

Chiesa never really seemed to speed for Liverpool life, but in his defense he was frozen by Juventus prior to his move and he never had a preseason to talk about. If he is still in the neighborhood by the time the Reds return, Slot will try to put his passes and see if he can use a little more next time.

A quick flip and a sale back to Italy, however, remains a very big opportunity, and like with Diaz and Jota, although perhaps a little more willing, you think it will just be a case to see what is happening.

Jayden Danns

Three goals in nine senior liverpool appearances are not bad at all, and it was easy to see why Sunderland thought Danns could add to their promotion -Push when they loaned him in January. Unfortunately, however, he never kicked a ball for them.

Injury decimated the loan of the attacker, just as it had made an earlier planned switch to Plymouth Argyle, and so getting the 19-year-old a number of first team promotion will certainly be the plan from here. Sunderland is still interested, but after their promotion it might be best to send Danns to the championship.

Ben Doak

Speaking of the championship, Doak excelled with Middlesbrough last season before a cruel injury ended his campaign in January and seriously hinded the promotion hoop of Boro.

Doak was impressed enough to become the subject of a serious interest rate from Premier League parties, and Liverpool could decide to cash in if the offer turns out to be tempting. Another loan is also a possibility.

Lewis Koumas

He did not get the headlines that Doak did, but Welsh International Koumas played almost double the amount of matches and scored double the amount of goals than the Scot did last season, and he also became a fixture in the team of his country.

However, that does not mean that he is eligible to go directly to the Liverpool side, and it may be that the 19-year-old gets a different loan spell, possibly in the Premier League, to determine the heights he could reach.

Rio Ngumoha

The baby of the group, Ngumoha will only be at the end of August 17 and so there will be no expectations on him yet, despite his enormous promise.

The teenager will hope to appear and build on his 71 minutes in the FA Cup against Accrington Stanley during the preseason in the coming campaign, whereby Slot will probably only introduce him to the first team environment when he regards the time to be right.
