The film was a sobering report of the struggles of a hunter like Kerr, while documenting his success in the UFC and proudly in Japan, as well as his friendship with fellow hunter Mark Coleman.
The film was acclaimed and inspired a feature film adjustment that was released in 2025.

Kerr is depicted by Johnson in the A24 film “The Smashing Machine”, which will be released later this year.
In an interview with GQ, Johnson spoke about why he took on the role, because it gave him the opportunity to explore deeper into a character than ever before.
“I knew this was a chance to disappear in a character, with prostheses, and also to play someone who is still alive.
“Someone who went through the fighting and life of life. Not only in the Octagon and in the cages, but also about addiction, failure, loss, struggle with mental health care.
“And that is the bug that I got a bit through and thought,” Oh, this is what I want to do! ” … to challenge myself in ways I was not challenged.
“Where the material is deeper, it enables me to sink my teeth in something deeper, richer.”
