Why are Barcelona wearing white shorts today against Las Palmas in LaLiga?

The Catalan club has changed its usual colors for today's match.

FC Barcelona will wear white shorts for their LaLiga match against Unión Deportiva Las Palmas on Saturday, November 30 (8:00 AM ET / 5:00 PM PT.) and no, it is not a tribute to Real Madrid.

The Catalan club recently celebrated their 125th anniversary and the decision to go for a change in kit colors pays tribute to a key moment in their history.

Believe it or not, the color of their eternal rivals was indeed present on Barcelona's first kits, as the Catalans started their journey as a club wearing white shorts. As such, today's change pays tribute to their very first kits, which saw the blaugrana shirts paired with white shorts and dark socks.

It is not the first time in history that Barça has worn white: a now famous kit from the 1970s was white and the club recently copied this for one of their away shirts.

What is the patch on the Barcelona shirts against Las Palmas?

As well as the nod to Real Madrid – I'm kidding! – Barcelona will also wear a special badge in honor of the club's 125th anniversary.

A simplified version of the club badge, surrounded by the club's year of birth, is present on the top left of the shirt, as the current club badge has been placed centrally this year.
