Barcelona were one of the sides closely linked to Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford before he signed his latest contract at Old Trafford, keeping him there until 2028. However, it now appears that he will leave the club much sooner.
According to The Telegraph and SkySports, as quoted by Sport, Rashford has been put on the market by Manchester United. Managr Ruben Amorim doesn't have him as a key part of his plans, and they want to get some money in for a player who has made more headlines than on the pitch lately.
However, the Catalan daily goes on to explain that Barcelona have no plans to revive their interest in Rashford as things stand. The reason for this is his wages: Rashford currently earns €350,000 net per week, and unless he dramatically drops his demands, Barcelona would be priced out of his signature. In addition, United is asking for 60 million euros for the 27-year-old.
Barcelona are reportedly looking for a left-sided forward, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Rafael Leao and Nico Williams on their radar. Rashford would theoretically fit the bill in terms of positioning, but his salary would put him at the more expensive end of those three, and the England international is older and performs less consistently than the other three.
