The Barcelona ladies team is stripped because of the financial collapse by the club – including the men.
Barca Femini enters the season with only 17 players in the first team because of the economic unrest around the club.
The men's team has been struggling since 2020 to register players and in June The Times revealed that Barca had violated the rules of Financial Fair Play of UEFA for the second consecutive year.
And Laliga has a rule where the budgets for the women's and youth teams are counted in the balance for financial limitations in addition to the men.
Barcelona has protested against this rule, but with that President Joan Laporta has still beaten the ladies team to free up funds for the men.
The latest revelation, via El Periodico, is that Jana Fernandez, who has won 15 trophies with the club, sees her contract terminating to free up salary space.
Fernandez, a Spain International, will leave one of the world's most successful ladies' clubs and seems ready to draw for newly promoted WSL side London City Lionesses.
The Academy graduated is not alone. Fourteen players left Barcelona Femini this summer – 12 of them permanently – while only two signing sessions have been done: a loan and a free transfer.
According to El Periodico, there is 'concern' for the future of the women's team and the viable long -term at the highest level.
That's because there are nine more players from contract next summer – including big stars such as Alexia Putellas or Mapi Leon – and there is a growing trend not to replace the departure.
All this stems from the extreme financial pressure that the club will burden.
The ladies team feels the squeeze and is said to make £ 0.68 million in savings, but the men's team is interconnected and hit hard.
In January, for example, Hansi's side came close to losing two of their striking stars -Dani Olmo and Pau Victor -and only the players were allowed to register again after selling 475 VIP chairs in their well -camp to a number of investors in the middle -east.
The deals that stretch in 30 years would have added £ 84 million to the club's finances, so that they could balance their books.
That was not even the first time that Barcelona had been in the situation.
In the summer of 2022, the club collected more than £ 700 million by pills 'levers', where stakes were sold in the future activities of the club.
That only came a year after the club legend and football icon Lionel Messi left because of his salary that did not match the new salary limit of the competition.
In the meantime, in July 2023, it was reported that Barcelona would attract their last economic lever by selling another interest in Barca Studios.
