Why Flick did eased out of harsh criticism of players in post-Betis team talk

Barcelona again saw two points slip through their fingers on Saturday afternoon, after Assane Diao equalized for Real Betis in the 94th minute. Manager Hansi Flick had shown his stricter side after the draw against Celta Vigo and the defeat against Las Palmas, but was less harsh in his team discussion after the match in Seville.

Flick was clear with his players – 'Either we play at 100% or we don't win games' – in a message that was serious and also contained strong words for the team. However, he did not go for them in the same way as he did in Vigo, says Diario AS. The German manager saw that his players were disappointed by the result and decided not to twist the knife by criticizing them too.

The Blaugrana will take on Borussia Dortmund in their next match, followed by home games with Leganes and Atletico Madrid to close out 2024. The pressure will be on to secure three wins out of three and categorize their five-match run with just one Liga win as a malaise rather than a much more worrying long-term problem.
