One of the absence is two important players that Alonso will not be able to work against the Reds: Jude Bellingham and Antonio Rüdeliger.
Why doesn't Jude Bellingham play?
After months of Vecht injury, Jude Bellingham finally chose to undergo surgery on his damaged left shoulder. The procedure took place on July 16 in London, less than a week after the loss of Madrid against PSG in the final of the Club World Cup 2025.
Bellingham's shoulder problems date from 2023. In his debut Liga season, in the white shirt, he ran the first injury against Rayo Vallecano. What looked for the first time on an isolated incident that developed into recurring dislocations, forcing the Englishman to play pain, play games and eventually go under the knife.
Why doesn't Antonio Rüdeliger play?
Although he has been physically recovered, the German defender will also miss the competition opener. After a controversial red card in the Copa del Rey final against Barça, Rüdeliger got a suspension of six games, five of which he served.
The former Chelsea player used his enforced absence to undergo surgery on his left knee, and that is why he did not find Alonso's debut at the Club's World Cup during the debut of Xabi Alonso.
When will they return?
After almost 20 months of shoulder problems, Bellingham is expected to be back on the field in October. According to Real Madrid's medical report, his recovery time line has been set at 10 to 12 weeks after the date of the operation.
As far as rüdiger is concerned, he is already completely fit, but must serve the last match of his suspension. His return is planned for MatchDay 2 of Laliga EA Sports, when Madrid meets that Real Oviedo is only promoted.
