With the preseason for many clubs that have already started and competitions not too far away, not to mention less than a month to the start of the Premier League campaign of 2025/26, it is vital that signing sessions will be made in the next two to three weeks.
Although it is true that players can be signed for a maximum of three weeks after the start of the season, not to upset the dressing room balance and to have something that looks like a fixed starting XI, it now has clear that transfer company is being done.
Liverpool has worked the transfer market well
A club that has worked very well on the market this summer is Liverpool.
Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong are the headline signing sessions, with the catches of Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman somewhat under the radar.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has moved to Real Madrid and it is clear that Luis Diaz also fought for a move, so the make-up of the XI of Arne Slot could look considerably different than their title-winning side of last season.
Then the door is expected by Anfield Crystal Palace Captain and England International, Marc Guehi. Reports suggest that conversations started between the respective parties, and there are reasons why a deal would be logical for both the South Londers and the Merseysiders.
Jarell Quansah recently left the Anfield outfit to become a member of Bayer Leverkusen, while it is understood that Ibrahima Konate has rejected the recent offer of Liverpool to extend his contract – which ends in 2026 – to 2030.
To that end, the Reds would almost certainly rather get some money for him instead of losing him on a free – such as at Alexander -Arnold – next summer.
Konate and Guehi are in the last year of their contracts
The same scenario plays in the game with regard to Guehi, and although Palace chairman, Steve Parish, had succeeded in keeping the vultures at bay over the last few transfer windows, with only 12 months over the deal of the Center-Back, he really needs to continue, although the South Londoners want a replacement in the town of Guehi's.

So what would Liverpool get, were they to land the 25-year-old? To begin with, the best years of his career when we believe that a player will not reach his peak until he reaches 27 or 28.
With Virgil van Dijk who chooses to play on the left side of the central defense, even though he is with the right foot, Guehi can slot in the right -sided berth, but can also switch his excellence with both feet.

In terms of a comparison with king, although the Liverpool -man has a higher success rate (63.4% to 55.9%), it is a bit misleading because Guehi has tried both more tackles (68 to 41) and won more (30 to 26).
You could of course claim that Liverpool was so dominant last season that their back line was largely comfortable.
Elite passing accuracy underlines Liverpool's game
Both players love the physical side of the game, and in terms of one-on-one duels, Konate 220 tried in 2024/25, with a success rate of 65.9%, making him a solid eighth among his teammates. 106 Ball Recoverys also places him in the upper echelon.
In an Eagles side that initially fought for their lives last season, Guehi should really intervene. His 313 attempted duels had a success rate of 60.1%, while 166 recoveries had him as the third best in Palace in this respect.

Slot's Swashbuckling XI likes to play as much as possible on the front foot, so Konate's 90.3% passing accuracy is no surprise. 1824 completed passes of 2019 -attempt is a scandalous high percentage.
Palace under Oliver Glasner was a bit more pragmatic, while they were also looking where possible to attack. Guehi's 84.8% completion statement is far behind that of the Frenchman, but it is also the best show of a palace player who has tried at least 500 passes.

Three goals from the English international with a shot accuracy of 77.8% is certainly not the worst output for a defender, and compares very favorably with the only goal of Konate and 25% accuracy, which shows that Liverpool could use a different weapon in set pieces in the future.
In terms of discipline, it must be said that both players like to play on the edge, and the use of that style of playing inevitably means that the strange late challenge or two will have the result. The eight yellow cards from Guehi are two more than his contemporary, and the palace man also saw red on one occasion last season.
