Tottenham is still in the dark about the future of Morgan Gibbs-White after Nottingham Forest quickly closed his move to North London due to claims of an “illegal approach”, despite activating his £ 60 million release clause
Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White did not travel with the team for their pre-season camp in Portugal because of a “personal issue”, amid the current transfer row of his club with Tottenham.
Spurs and Forest started a dispute about Gibbs-White after the Northern London club had activated its release clause of £ 60 million and even set up a medical international for the English international. But Forest quickly hit the brakes on the deal and claimed that Tottenham had not received permission for the speaker with the player – said they would consult their lawyers after their “illegal approach”.
Forest has since reported traces to the Premier League, with the dispute in the corridor and the movement considered things – although the move could be generated along the line later.
Gibbs -White has since returned to the training, but it is understood that it would like to become a member of the men of Thomas Frank – and reportedly wanted to resolve his future by this week before Forest to Portugal was set up. Gibbs-White did not go on board the plane on the way to their training camp for the season on Monday.
His fiancé, Britney de Villiers, posted a photo from a hospital bed on her Instagram on Sunday evening. The Villiers, who is heavily pregnant, uploads the image with the caption: “For all mums related to or have treated a pregnancy with a high risk, my heart really goes to you and I want you to know you are not alone.
“This is one of the most difficult things I have tackled and I just don't really remember a time when I was not overwhelmed by stress.”
It is understood that Forest Gibbs-White has allowed to stay with his family. He is expected to do the rest of his teammates from Forest later this week as soon as he is ready.
He played the first half of Forest's 0-0 draw in Chesterfield last week and received a warm welcome from fans. It is understood that the 25-year-old has shown an exemplary attitude in the midst of the Transfersaga, but that he still wants clarity on his future.
Gibbs -White has left on his deal in the city for less than two years and has shown no indications that he wants to renew his contract in the midst of the enormous interest in his signature – including from Manchester City.
It is assumed that Tottenham is considering submitting a second £ 65 million in the hope that it would change the position of the forest, but it is not yet clear whether the club would be open to negotiations in the midst of the severe row.
Forest has sold Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for £ 55 million and are reluctant to lose two important players in the same transfer window.
