Liverpool and Manchester United play at Anfield today but heavy snow has thrown the match into doubt.
It remains unclear whether today's Premier League match between arch-rivals Liverpool and Manchester United will go ahead amid adverse weather conditions.
The matchday 20 match at Liverpool's Anfield stadium, scheduled for kick-off at 11:30am ET/8:30am PT, has been thrown into doubt due to heavy snowfall in the city and surrounding region.
As things stand, both clubs say the game will be played as planned. It appears a final decision will be made at a safety meeting scheduled for 12pm local time (7am ET/4am PT).
In a statement issued earlier today, the Merseyside club said: “A safety meeting was held this morning to assess the weather and travel conditions for today's match against Manchester United at Anfield.
“At this stage the intention is for the match to continue as normal and every effort is being made to ensure the match goes ahead.
“Another safety meeting will take place at noon to review the latest conditions. We will inform supporters as soon as possible. Please be extra careful, Reds.”
United, meanwhile, said: “Our match against Liverpool is still going ahead at this stage despite snow and weather warnings in the North West today.
“Take care if you travel to the game – we will keep you informed of the latest developments.”
Liverpool host Manchester United and sit top of the Premier League, five points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, who have played two games more than the Reds.
United, meanwhile, currently sit in 14th place, having lost five of their last six league games under new boss Rúben Amorim.
