New signing of Liverpool Will Wright came close to making an immediate impression on fans, a few days after drawing for the club.
The Premier League champions had officially announced Wright's signing of League Two Side Salford City on Tuesday.
The Reds had confirmed that the attacker was already connected to their U21S team last week and debuted for the team at the weekend.
Wright received a 16-minute cameo on Monday in the second of Liverpool's pre-season double header against Athletic Club, where the teenager stood up for Florian Wirtz.
The attacker almost marked his first Anfield performance with a goal only 10 minutes later.
Wright struck a challenge in half of Liverpool, before feeding the ball with Federico Chiesa.
After sprinting forward to offer Chiesa and option on his left, Wright received the Italian pass and tried to bend the ball into the net.
The attacker was eventually refused by the pedestrian of the Athletic Club, with the ball back in safety.
Liverpool had defeated Premier League rivals for the signing of Wright, who made four senior performances for Salford City last season.
Two weeks ago, Arsenal had agreed a fee of £ 200,000 with Salford with a further £ 50,000 to follow the season in feasible add-ons.
The conversations were well progressed with his representatives, but Liverpool, who had led the first race for the 17-year-old, came back during the weekend and corresponded to the offer of Arsenal.
Leeds United and Rangers have also done late investigations, just like Nottingham Forest, while City, although great admirers, have already committed considerable funds for other signs of youth.
Wright ultimately voted in accordance with a three -year contract with Liverpool.
Wright has been productive at youth level and in the preseason. He has made four senior performances since he was made as a replacement in the FA Cup defeat by Manchester City in January.
