William Gallas: Gunners ‘slipping up when you don’t expect them to’ like Spurs

William Gallas has claimed that Arsenal reminds him of Tottenham. The 47-year-old former centre-back admitted the Gunners 'make a mistake when you don't expect it' – something he says Spurs have 'always done'.

Mikel Arteta's team has been inconsistent in the Premier League this season. The Gunners sit third in the table but have won just eight of their first fifteen games, taking 29 points out of a possible 45. While that's not a terrible total, they are six points behind leaders Liverpool, having played one more match.

Arsenal dropped points against Fulham this weekend – a result that has put them further back in the race for the title. Gallas believed he now sees the Gunners as the new Tottenham due to their inconsistent nature, having also failed against Brighton, Bournemouth and Newcastle earlier this season.

Former Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea defender Gallas told Prime Casino: “It's always the same problem with Arsenal; they perform well and win against big teams and then drop points when it really matters, when they had the chance to close the gap Liverpool.

“The question is why, because this has happened over the last three seasons, you have to wonder what is going wrong with Arsenal. It is the same problem every year and is it because the players are not good enough? The manager cannot seem to care about the to find a solution to score three points in those kinds of games against Fulham.

“Arsenal is starting to remind me of Tottenham. Sometimes they make a mistake when you don't expect them. Spurs have always done that, but not Arsenal.”

To solve their problems, Gallas has urged Arsenal to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to the Emirates after impressing at St James' Park, with the Sweden international directly contributing to nine goals in 13 league appearances this season.

Gallas added: “Arsenal need a striker who fits the team and Alexander Isak would fit well. He is a powerful player, he understands the game, he is technically good, he wants to compete.”

“The problem for Arsenal is that he won't be cheap and it may take some time for him to adapt. That's why they had to do their business in the summer. The opportunity has now gone. I don't think I'll be a striker in the summer will contract.” Arsenal have cost, otherwise they would be at the top of the table in Liverpool's position.”
