Free agent Wissam Ben Yedder, 34, is in talks with struggling Ligue 1 team Montpellier over a transfer, according to a report from L'Equipe. Ben Yedder has been without a club since June 30 and the expiration of his contract with AS Monaco. Since then, the France international has been embroiled in several cases of sexual misconduct. Notably, Ben Yedder was given a two-year suspended prison sentence after being found guilty of drunken assault.
The outlet understands that Ben Yedder's court supervision will not prohibit him from playing at the professional level again. The former Sevilla centre-forward reportedly entered rehab in Nice and joined a specialist center to return to match fitness. L'Equipe understands that Ben Yedder is in talks with several Ligue 1 clubs, including Montpellier. La Paillade is currently bottom of the league and will play against Olympique Lyonnais on Saturday.
