Wojciech Szczesny reveals key cultural difference between Barcelona and Juventus

Wojciech Szczesny signed a new contract with Barcelona earlier this week and extended his stay until 2027. He has now looked back on his first nine months in the club, which have been quite special to him.

Speaking on “Foot Truck” (via MD), Szczesny Barcelona Teammates discussed Pedri, of whom he was very impressed.

“Pedri is the player who has made the most impression on me in my life: I see him control the game, both in attack and in defense, he never loses the ball. If you asked me who the best player was this year, I would personally say Pedri.

“He embodies the spectacle that football should be and encourages young people to practice this sport. There are players who don't lose the ball, but they play with relative trust, but he, on the other hand, starts to dribble, even when the opponents have him on top of him. He plays through the center, and you know that when you hold the ball to him.”

Szczesny also discussed the differences between games in Barcelona and Juventus, with whom he was before he drew in Catalonia. He explained that his role in the two respective teams was very different.

“At Juve everything was different. Here you play and train in a very different way. In small games everyone is close by, you can predict in advance where the player passes and the position of the defenders. These games can be useful to improve footwork because it is much easier because everyone wants the ball.

“Here I have the impression that even if I make mistakes, the team plays so well that I can look ahead. Have we admitted a goal? Okay, now we have to score two. The weight of each defeat is completely different. Last season, Barcelona seemed to be the team that gave the least to the number of goals.

“At Juve, if I received the ball with my left side, the defender was five meters away from me, but he would turn to the other side, as if he wanted me to clean it up for a long time instead of passing it up. Here everyone comes to me and shouts at me and shouted the ball; Cubars; Cubars; for example;; Cubary; Cubary; Cubary; Cubary; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubars, had bijvoorbeeld de bal; Cubars; Cubars; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubars, wilde bijvoorbeeld; Cubars; Cubarse; Cubars; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubarse; Cubars, for example, Cubars;
