Matheus Cunha is in negotiations to leave Wolves for Manchester United in a transfer of £ 62.5 million this summer and is supposed to have been agreed in a move to Old Trafford – but Wolves Chief Vorror Pereira is convinced that he is still on board
Wolves -manager Vorror Pereira has admitted that he does not know whether Matheus Cunha joins Manchester United – but is convinced that he will remain dedicated in Molineux. Cunha is strongly connected to a large money movement to United when the summer transfer window is opened, but has continued to play for Wolves in recent weeks.
United is desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee had difficulty finding the back of the net. From Cunha he is expected to leave Wolves for Old Trafford, where the club also strives for Ipswich Town star Liam delap in a £ 30 million movement.
The Brazilian attacker has a release clause of £ 62.5 million, written in a new contract that runs until June 2029 in the midst of interest in January. He scored 17 goals and gave six assists in 34 games for Wolves this season and is supposed to be sold when they join United, even if they lose the Europa League final and do not qualify for the Champions League next season.
United and the 25-year-old have agreed on anything but the finer points of his move, and the Red Devils also work on the structure of the deal with wolves. But speaking at the Wolves game against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Tuesday evening, Pereira held his cards close to his chest.
“I have the same information as you, I really don't know!” He got on when he was asked about Cunha. “I just know he is my player, he is dedicated to the team, he works with happiness and we will see what is happening.”
When he pressed on whether Cunha wants to stay in Molineux, Pereira added: “You have to ask him, but I feel that he is happy.”
Mirror Football understands that Ruben Amorim Cunha would play as one of his two nr. 10s in his favorite 3-4-2-1 formation next season. That is why they also chase Delap, who this season has 12 Premier League goals as a more conventional center-forward.

Although he is impressed by the field, Cunha has had a tumultuous campaign after he bumped with Wolves fans online and served a ban of four games to collide with Milos Kerkez van Bournemouth. He made it clear that he wanted to leave Wolves in January before signing a new contract that at least ensures that his club will be compensated this summer.
“I made it clear that I have to take the next step,” he said. “I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”
For his part, Amorim has stopped in public over the hanging transfer, which can continue shortly after the window is opened on 1 June. “I will say nothing about Matheus, because when I say that I have to say 'yes' or 'no' and not comment on that,” he said last month.
“We have to concentrate on this season and the way we prepare for the next season can change in these competitions, so it's hard to predict what can happen in the future.”
