Wolves and Stade de Reims have reached an agreement in principle on the transfer of central defender Emmanuel Agbadou (27), according to a report last Friday from L'Equipe. Premier League spending on the Reims centre-back is reported to rise to €20 million. Football agent Jorge Mendes, whose influence at Molineux is well documented, played a crucial role in brokering the deal through his agency.
Vitor Pereira's Wolves were also keen on Abdukodir Khusanov (20) from Lens, but Agbadou ultimately got the nod. The outlet understands that Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart were also keen on Agbadou, but Wolves appear to have won the race to his signing. Reims were reluctant to part ways with the Ivory Coast international – who they signed from KAS Eupen in 2022 – after agreeing a contract extension with him last September. Agbadou was under contract with Luka Elsner's Reims until 2028.
