Gary Cahill says that Mohamed Salah did his “talking on the field” during continuous speculation about his future in Liverpool.
The Egyptian signed a new two -year contract with Liverpool on Friday and ended months of discussions about what would happen at the end of the season, when his current contract were to be completed.
Salah, who came to Liverpool in 2017, was in an exceptional form in 2024-25, scored 32 goals and this season registered 22 assists in 45 performances in all competitions.
His 44 competition aid involvement (27 goals, 17 assists) In 2024-25 the jointest by a single player in a 38-game season in the competition, together with Thierry Henry (2002-03) and Erling Haaland (2022-23).
Salah is in fact an average of 1.44 target statements per 90 minutes in the top of this campaign, which helps Liverpool to a 11-point lead at the top of the table.
Cahill, who played with Salah in Chelsea in 2013-14 and 2014-15, believes that the 32-year-old did not ignore the uncertainty of his future.
Speaking with statistics that perform at the UEFA Europa League and Conference League Trophy Tour driven by Flix, he said: “I played with Mo when he was a lot younger. What a player, you know, world class player.
“And his statistics and his figures have been incredible. But of course it is that you spoke around here [his future]. It goes without saying that you have a world -class player, a huge club, and it will always talk and speculate about it.
“The thing is, I just feel that he is doing his talk on the field. You have added a little noise; I still have the feeling that it is reasonably well managed, and I feel that most versions have shown this season that he is fully, fully dedicated, and that is all I know that everyone wants.
“If I played, you know, what happens separately with a person or player's individual contract is a kind of their things, if that makes sense. But as long as you work completely for the team and the group and everything else, then there are no problems with someone, then there is what you see.
“The manager [Arne Slot] Speaks very high about him and Mo gives 110% every time he plays. So he is world class and he is a big reason why Liverpool is going to win this trophy. “
Another Liverpool player whose contract will be in June is Captain Virgil van Dijk, with reports that suggest that he was also signed close to the signing of a new two-year deal with the Reds.
Since he made his Liverpool debut in January 2018, Van Dijk has made the second most approval of a Premier League defender (991), with only James Tarkowski (1,427).
At that time he also played a role in 97 League Clean Sheets – Only Niererson (106) played more a role.
This season he has been an always present figure for Liverpool and played this term every minute in the Premier League.
Cahill expects Van Dijk to get his new deal over the line and call his influence as a major factor in the Dominance of Liverpool in their urge to the Premier League title.
“They had a great season in terms of the Premier League,” he said. “They have been the clear best team, and I am sure they will continue and pick up the trophy.
“He is a leader, he is a big presence, he is one of the best center-backs in European football. He has had a great career, and it doesn't seem like he slows down, even at the age he is now.
“I am a great admirer of him and I am sure they will come to a conclusion between themselves and the club. I actually like how it played, you don't hear much.
“You don't hear much noise around it. It is very well managed, I felt. In the end I know for sure that they will make the right decision between them.”
