Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has rejected transfer rumors around Rodrygo after the attacker was omitted from Wednesday's 4-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.
The International Brazil was an unused replacement in the Metlife Stadium, because Real is inadequate when reaching the final.
After the defeat for the reigning Ligue 1 champions, various questions were aimed at the former Bayer Leverkusen -Coach, including questions about Rodrygo's situation in the club.
Alonso described the decision to bank the winger as a tactical one, and emphasized that it has no influence on his future in the club.
“The fact that he no longer played is a game-per-game decision,” he said the media.
“The way it went, we needed another player. There have been no decisions about the future during this entire championship; we didn't play much. We start in a different context.”
He continued: “We want to build a team that plays as a unity and retain that feeling and spirit. The World Cup has been very demanding; we have been left in the penultimate phase, it hurts, and now we will see what is happening.”
When asked whether he is planning to strengthen his team prior to the 2025/26 campaign, the 43-year-old replied: “We did not talk about it during the club World Cup, but from now on we are open to improvements. We are always looking for improvement and there is room for improvement.”
Rodrygo can only be seen for 27 minutes in his last five performances for the Santiago Bernabeu giants, who were concerned in the midst of a growing speculation about a possible move to the English Premier League.
Now that Arsenal and Liverpool show interest, it is assumed that the double Champions League winner, with a value of € 90 million, is supposed to look for more regular playing time with Los Blancos.
