Arsenal is interested in a summer movement for Real Madrid wing player Rodrygo, and Bernabeu -manager Xabi Alonso confirmed where the head of the Brazilian is in the midst of his uncertain future
Real Madrid -Baas Xabi Alonso insisted that Rodrygo's focus on the Spanish giants remains, despite rumors that link him with a move to Arsenal. The future of the 24-year-old in the Santiago Bernabeu was pushed into uncertainty last season after he had fallen under Carlo Ancelotti.
No longer a starter because of the attacking trio of Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, the Brazilian probably seemed to go to the club from Madrid after six years, after he was signed at only 18 years old in 2019.
It was the Gunners who emerged as the favorites to achieve his signature, given the goal of Mikel Arteta to improve his attacking options prior to the 2025/26 season.
But it is understood that the Premier League side will have to find out more than £ 70 million to land the winger, who is also important for Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain.
Speculation about the future of Rodygo was only warmed up during the FIFA Club World Cup, where he played a bit piece role in Madrid's Run to the quarterfinals. After playing 65 minutes in the Madrid opening match against Al-Hilal, he only had 23 minutes of action and was an unused replacement against Pachuca and Juventus.
Despite his lack of minutes, Alonso revealed in his press conference before the game that his winger continues to concentrate on making a positive effect if he would see the field in their last -like band against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
“I'm sure Rodrygo can return to his best form,” said the Spaniard. “I spoke with him; he is positive, enthusiastic and ready when needed.” This was not the first time that Alonso insisted that Rodygo was still considered an important member of his team, a feeling he said after Madrid's 1-0 victory over Juventus last week.
“After the game I try to approach everyone I meet on the way,” he said. 'He had a few minutes [against Salzburg] who were important to him and he will be important. In these championships, sometimes those who start are just as important as those who come in.
“They can have a decisive impact, so every player must be prepared for everything their way is coming. Everyone is in a good attitude. Rodrygo trains well and I see him well. Then it's my decision that plays.”
After the end of the season, Arteta Arsenal fans promised that the summer vacation will be an “exciting” for fans who had to contend with a third consecutive second place in the competition.
“It will be a very exciting summer,” he told Sky Sports earlier. “First of all, assess what we have done. Investigate to find ways to increase the level of the team. Finding large margins where we can still develop our game model and our players.
“Then compile those plans, play the preseason. And then if we don't have enough of it, then it's about what we have to recruit now to make the difference.”
