Xabi Alonso exit will trigger Real Madrid target to leave Bayer Leverkusen

Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are expected to be heavily involved in each other's things this summer.

Los Blancos has opened conversations with Xabi Alonso about accelerating his return to the Spanish capital with the former midfielder set up as the number 1 goal to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti's fate looks sealed in Madrid, with Florentino Perez who insists on change, and Alonso gets a bumper transfer budget to cooperate in the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

A player who could watch Alonso to take from Leverkusen is Florian Wirtz with the Germany International who may want to move.

Los Blancos is regularly linked to an offer for Wirtz as a future option, in addition to other goals from all over Europe, as part of a long -term transfer plan.

Despite rumors that Wirtz was open for a move to Madrid in 2024, he stayed in Germany for the 2024/25 season, while Leverkusen tries to defend their Bundesliga title.

The 21-year-old yielded 18 goals last season, while Leverkusen once sealed a very first Bundesliga Crown and he is under contract until 2027.

Previous reports indicate that the German giants can demand a world records of € 150 million with Bayern Munich who is also interested in him.

According to reports from Bundesliga transfer expert Christian Falk, Leverkusen is preparing for a race to sign Wirtz, especially when Alonso continues.

“Bayern Munich is still waiting for a decision by Wirtz and Leverkusen still does not know what he will decide,” he said.

“Xabi Alonso is the key in these conversations. If he leaves Leverkusen, Wirtz will certainly leave the club.

“It could be that Real Madrid signs him with Alonso. We already know that he admires Manchester City (because of Pep Guardiola). But as things are, the most concrete conversations are still with Bayern Munich.

“Max Eberl does not have these conversations with Leverkusen, because he still has a difficult relationship with the CEO, Fernando Carro, and the sports director, Simon Rolfes.”
