Xabi Alonso hints at first Real Madrid start for €63m signing

Real Madrid is back in the La Liga campaign on Sunday when they take on Real Oviedo in the Municipal Carlos Tartiere in Estadio. Los Blancos won their opening match of the season earlier this week, and there will be a strong desire to get two victories of two.

According to Diario As, Real Madrid Head Coach Xabi Alonso gave his opinion about Oviedo during his press conference for the competition, and he also spoke about the reunion with ex-Spain teammate Santi Cazorla.

“I am sure it is a special match for Oviedo and their fans. It is also very important for us to continue to grow away from home, to be competitive. Wherever we play, we have to keep giving a good level. It is the third week since we returned (for the season), but we look ahead to the game of tomorrow.

“I did not speak to him because I have been more focused on the game, on us. I have a spectacular memory with him, as a player and teammate. At Euro 2008, all the people who were there made a great dressing room. You can see the affection that people have for him, and then football, he is an exceptional player. He is an exceptional player. He is a player.

Alonso also hinted that Franco Mastantuono, who made his Real Madrid debut against Osasuna, could start against Oviedo.

“I saw him well (against Osasuna). He had a good impact, gave good energy. While he is in the team, he has options to play – just like everyone else.”

There has been a lot of excitement at Real Madrid with regard to Mastantuono, who signed from the river plate earlier this summer in a deal worth € 63 million. He impressed Osasuna, and he should get the chance to do this when Los Blancos compete against Oviedo.
