Xabi Alonso rejects PSG comparison in stern Real Madrid omission

Real Madrid -Baas Xabi Alonso is not illusions about the task with which he is confronted after their FIFA Club World Cup exit.

Los Blancos bowed the tournament from the final phase after he was hammered 4-0 by UEFA Champions League winners PSG in New Jersey.

Defensive mistakes had Real Madrid on the back foot from the start, but in reality they never came close to the red -hot team of Luis Enrique.

After cruising to the last four, Real Madrid was unable to match, and Alonso will spend in the coming weeks focusing on how and where to improve.

Alonso was clear in his vision where his team is now and he believes that they are not even close to the current level of PSG.

“There is much to analyze and learn from. We now know where we are and where to look, and where we want to be and prepare for that.

“PSG are a team. We have just started our journey. We suffered and it was difficult. There are many things that we want to do better. It hurts today.

“This is the last game of the 2024/25 season. Our season now starts in August.”

It was not only the four goals that the two teams separated full -time, the dominance of PSG was shown across the board, while Real Madrid flopped.

The side of Luis Enrique was at the top of the statistics of the game ownership, compared to 68% by 32% for the Alonso team, with 17 shots up to 11.

More precisely, they scored four goals of seven shots on Target, where the two efforts of Real Madrid on the PSG target Gianluigi Donnarumma did not really have.

Perhaps the best stat of the game came through Pass Masters PSG who registered 631 successful passes of 681 tried in the game compared to Real Madrid's 255.
