Xabi Alonso to have limited say in Real Madrid transfers

Bayer Leverkusen -Manager Xabi Alonso seems to be a real madrid manager in waiting, with most of them a matter of when rather than like. The Basque coach is fiercely tipped to take over from Carlo Ancelotti and has been in contact with Los Blancos in recent months.

Ancelotti's future remains in the air, and it is no secret that the Italian's ability to bring in silverware this season will dictate whether he will continue to work. Los Blancos has told Alonso so much, but he is happy to spend another year in Germany when Ancelotti looks his contract with Real Madrid – he and his family are happy in the Bundesliga.

However, the door is left open to Alonso to join Real Madrid when Ancelotti continues in the summer. Another detail that adds Relo is that Alonso, who knows the club well from its match days and his time coaching as the manager under 19, is aware of the limitations of his role. Although he will clearly have a voice in the conversations and will fight with his corner for what he thinks is the best, he knows that his task is in the first place to coach the team, and that the decisions about transfers will be made by others.

Alonso would like to bring one or two players to his taste to the Santiago Bernabeu, he knows it will be difficult to convince the Real Madrid hierarchy. They will not make movements that they do not believe are profitable and will not change their transfer strategy with the arrival of Alonso, despite his prestige.

Ancelotti has certainly felt the full effects of it, with Real Madrid not signing a striker after the departure of Karim Benzema. Los Blancos also did not bring in a central defender after the exit of Nacho Fernandez last summer. In recent years, Real Madrid has spent great on younger talents such as Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham, but older players have only arrived for free.
