Chelsea has been linked all summer for a move for RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, but saw a switch be questioned with a new interest of one of their Premier League rivals
RB Leipzig -star Xavi Simons still gives priority to moving to Chelsea despite the growing interest from elsewhere. Chelsea has looked at the Dutchman for the most part of the summer, with a £ 60 million switch.
But the plans of the blues have been questioned in recent days with rival clubs that have also plotted a dive for Simons. Premier League -Rivalen Manchester City were credited with an interest, while the German giants Bayern Munich also keep an eye on him while trying to find a replacement for Kingsley Coman -who has completed a move to Saudi -Outfit Al -Nassr.
Fortunately for Chelsea, it seems that Simons' own wishes can go a long way to determine his immediate future. According to ESPN, 22-year-old Leipzig Chiefs has announced that he only wants to explore a move to Chelsea.
The head coach of the German club, Ole Werner, recently spoke about the future of Simons and admitted that it was as usual business. He said: “Xavi has had a good training camp, despite all the news that is swallowing around him.
“He has proven that in the friendly competitions. As long as he is here, he is part of the team and can be a very important role. In that respect I normally plan with him.”
Simons would be from Leipzig's second major money sales this summer to a Premier League club this summer after the move from Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United. In the meantime, he would also be the ninth signing of Chelsea of the summer, although Enzo Maresca remains dissatisfied after he has asked a new defender after the long -term injury of Levi Colwill.
In anticipation of the Premier League opener this weekend against Crystal Palace, the Italian said: “I think we need a central defender. We are looking for an internal solution, but as I said, the club knows exactly what I think.
He added: “We have a fantastic team. We are happy with the team we are, undoubtedly. But we often said that when the window is open, everything can happen.”

Chelsea is also linked to Manchester United Misfit Alejandro Garnacho. In the meantime, a move to Man City always seemed unlikely to Simons, given the complaints of Pep Guardiola that his team was too big.
“Too many people,” he said. 'It's not about Eddy [Ederson]Today [there] wax [no] Rodri, Phil, Kovacic, Savinho and Josko. We had Nathan on the couch [Aké] and Gündo [Ilkay Gündogan]. I love a deep team to compete in all matches, but I don't want to leave players at home. It is not healthy. You cannot create a good atmosphere or atmosphere to compete.
'The club has known [about] It has been since last season, but the situation is what it is. In the next two weeks, people with players and agents will talk to find a solution. We have to reduce the team because it will be difficult to support the atmosphere of the team. “
