Zirkzee’s ‘agent to hold talks with Amorim over the striker’s long-term future

According to reports, Juventus are interested in signing Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee has endured a nightmarish start to his England career after joining from Bologna for £36.5million.

The Dutchman made just one Premier League start under new boss Ruben Amorim, with Rasmus Hojlund preferred over him.

According to Tuttosport, Zirkzee's former manager Thiago Motta wants to reunite with the striker at Juventus.

The Italian outlet claims that Zirkzee's agent Kia Joorabchian will soon hold a meeting with United to understand their plans ahead of the January transfer window.

The striker is said to be set to leave Old Trafford next month as United sign a new striker due to their problems in front of goal.

Motta got the best out of the Dutchman when the pair teamed up in Bologna last season, where they helped take the club to the Champions League.

Zirkzee scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for Bologna last season, but has only found the back of the net three times in 23 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

His only Premier League start under Amorim came against Everton earlier this month, when he scored a goal as United claimed a 4-0 victory.

Amorim had picked the Netherlands international after remaining unimpressed with his efforts on his managerial debut against Ipswich and expressing 'concerns' over Zirkzee's ability, being wasteful in possession and failing to make runs into the penalty area.

He said, 'I think so [decision-making] is a problem, you don't need to coach them at this level.

'You have to keep the ball and know the momentum to put the ball in front. Sometimes you feel like you can't keep the ball with you [have to] put the ball in front.

'Then you have the feeling that at the end of the match we were standing around the penalty area with two strikers. Josh [Zirkzee] must understand that he has to go to the coffin to get the crosses.'
