Earlier this week Real Madrid confirmed that the Florentino Perez period was extended as president, since he had participated in the last elections without opposition. He will now remain at the helm until 2029, after which he will be 83 years old.
From the past 25 years, Perez was the president of Real Madrid for 22 years. He was originally appointed in 2000, but held this position during his first six -year period. Three years later he was re -elected – and since then he is in charge. However, there will be a time when he continues, and at that stage it will be interesting to see who his successor will be.
Someone who could come with a scream is Carlos Sainz Sr. The 62-year-old, a legendary Spanish rally driver, is a well-known supporter of Real Madrid, and the same applies to his son Carlos Sainz JR, who is currently running in Formula 1.
Sainz Sr was recently on the podcast El Cafelito (via Relevo) and he was asked about the opportunity to become President of Real Madrid in the future.
“What I want is that Real Madrid wins and that I give all fans joy. When I applied for vice-president, it was something interesting, because I thought I could contribute to Real Madrid. To be honest, I still believe that I can contribute to Real Madrid. On the day the club is looking forward to it, if I am available at that time, I will be happy to contribute to Real Madrid and help the club.
“I can also help in a different way (whether or not as chairman), for example from the board of directors. I think I can contribute to Real Madrid. I say I will always be willing to help Real Madrid. “
Sainz Senior will wait a while if he wants to claim Real Madrid's presidency, but if so, he could be a popular choice.
