Taylor confirms Shaw’s return to Man City squad after abuse

Head coach of Manchester City Gareth Taylor has confirmed that Khadija Shaw has returned to the training of the first team, after missing Thursday's victory over Arsenal over Arsenal because of receiving racist and misogynistic abuse.

Online abuse was aimed at Shaw after the 4-3 defeat of City against Arsenal last Sunday in the Women's Super League, where the club reported it to the larger police of Manchester.

The police have said that their “investigations are going on”.

Taylor revealed in the Friday press conference that Shaw had returned to the training and that he had spoken with the player, prior to Sunday's meeting with Leicester City in the FA Cup.

He condemned the 'unacceptable abuse' that she received and repeated the support she had of everyone who was connected to the club.

He said: “Bunny is back with us today. She is fine and trained with the team, which is good, so that's it. I spoke with her. I am not going to share that respectfully.

“I don't think we want to give more broadcasting time more to this really bad problem that she has had to suffer from. There is no place for a walk of life.

“It is not acceptable; it will never be and will never be. We will support Bunny in the right way, no matter how that support looks.”

Manchester City was shocked to hear that Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw was subject to racist and misogynistic abuse after Sunday's game.

It is still unclear what role Shaw, who scored 86 goals for the club, will play in the fifth round draw against the foxes.
