Lionel Messi to be offered new contract by Inter Miami
As things stand, 2025 will be Lionel Messi's last year as a professional footballer, although there are plenty of chances for him to continue playing into 2026 as he will currently be involved for Argentina in their World Cup defense.
Messi has not yet fully committed to staying in Argentina until the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in North America. However, the expectation is that he will, especially if he decides to extend his contract with Inter Miami, which expires at the end of next year.
According to TyC Sports (via MD), Inter Miami is already planning to offer Messi a contract extension that would see him through the end of the 2026 MLS season.
As things stand, Messi's idea would be to sign that deal if it came his way. He feels very comfortable in Miami, where he has been based since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023.
