In an interview with Téléfoot, Arsenal Center Back William Saliba (24) was asked if he believes he is the best defender in world football. These were claims that he was quickly rejected.
The international defender of France has received a lot of praise since he became a first team at Arsenal. The versions of Saliba for both club and country have recognized him among the best defenders in world football and praised by some as the best. The Noord-London club drew the center back from Saint-étienne for a fee of € 30 million in 2019.
The 24-year-old has made 129 performances since he signed for the Gunners and played a crucial role in their transformation under Mikel Arteta into regular contenders in the Premier League title race. Despite his impressive screenings, the Frenchman would rather have remained modest when comparing himself with the best defenders in European football.
When asked about his status of the best in the world, Saliba said: “I think I am one of the best, but not yet the best defender in the world. I can still get much better in a day, I hope to improve.”
