Atletico Madrid has their eyes focused on different goals for the summer transfer window, but they can be defeated in one of them by the Blueco group.
Atleti must sign defenders in the summer as replacements for the departing Axel Witsel and Cesar Azpilicueta. And although Cristian Romero is their top objective for one of those positions, they opt for the other between Clement Lenglet and Santiago Mourino.
Mourino was sold to Alaves last summer to Alaves, but as part of that agreement they have a back-back clause of € 3 million. And triggering that will be very tempting, considering how the Uruguayan has achieved in Vitoria, but they may not get the chance to have reported so relevant that Strasbourg, who are part of BlueCo, likes the 23-year-old.
And Mourino is not the only La Liga star who wants to sign Strasbourg this summer, because they have also set their sights of Villarreal Youngster Etta Eyong. The 21-year-old attacker scored his first senior goal for the yellow submarine in the 1-0 win in Girona last weekend, but he could be left to leave La Ceramica if the Ligue 1-side gets their way.
Villarreal has high expectations of Eyong, as evidenced by the decisions of Marcelino Garcia Toral to throw him in large competitions in recent weeks. But if they received an acceptable range of Strasbourg, they can be open to sales.
Alaves will have their say with Mourino, because he is currently their player, although they cannot reject the Athleti offer if they decide to activate the buy-back clause they have. It is still to be seen where both players are appreciated by Strasbourg, who have a good chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League thanks to their position in the Ligue 1 table.
