Antony reveals the reason for his struggles at Manchester United after rediscovering his form at Real Betis

The loan from Manchester United Antony is of the opinion that issues have influenced his performances at Old Trafford in his personal life.

The Brazilian has been transformed since the completion of a January move to Laliga Side Real Betis, after he has not come close to the £ 86 million compensation that the Red Devils paid Ajax for his services in the summer of 2022.

The 25-year-old registered only 12 goals and five assists in 96 games for United before he was shipped from the club by Ruben Amorim for the rest of the season.

In 2023, Antony was accused by his former partner Gabriela Cavallin for insulting, attacking and threatening her, which led to the police of Sao Paulo who carried out an investigation.

A year after the complaint was submitted, the police found insufficient proof of any misconduct on the part of Antony and concluded their investigation, as reported by Globo.com.

In an interview with ESPN Basil, the winger said that his 'personal life' had influenced his displays for the Red Devils, who, according to him, was far below the standard that he had seen the Manchester secure and was selected as part of the Brazilian team for the World Cup 2022.

“I think, apart from my football life, my personal life stood in the way a lot, because of the things I experienced, the moments that I lived there,” Antony said. 'It likes it or not, it affected me a lot. So of course I know the potential I have.

'It is not for nothing that I went to a World Cup, it is not for nothing that I was sold to United for a lot of money, and I know my value.

'People look at this moment, but they don't look at the larger whole, what happens to let things do.

“So, as I said, my feeling at United was that I also had good moments, bad moments, but of course I could have done more, I could have done better.”

Since the landing in southern Spain, Antony has included four goals and four assists in 16 games for the outfit of Manuel Pellegrini who are hunting for Champions League qualification and the last four of the Europa Conference League.
